14:00 René Rooimans

René Rooimans was introduced to jazz music at an early age. At home there was a lot of music from  Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, but also from Rhoda Scott and Jimmy Smith. René knew early on that the Hammond organ was his instrument and started playing the organ at the age of 8. For a long time he had lessons at the Rotterdam School of Music, where he later also arranged workshops and studied harmony. He also did a Master Class with Rhoda Scott in Paris, where he had the opportunity to meet his idol in person.

As a semi-professional musician, he has continued to make music in both The Netherlands and Germany on top of his job as an electrical engineer. He has played with various Dutch jazz musicians such as Benjamin Herman, Dick de Graaf and Jesse van Ruller as well as with international jazz musicians such as Rhoda Scott, Teddy Edwards and Ray Appleton.
